When having your driveway plowed there is a chance of damage to your lawn. No matter how careful the driver may be, the chance is still there. This is an unfortunate by-product of snow plowing. With a season like this, the chances are even higher.
The reason for the increased chance of snow plow damage is that the ground did not have a chance to freeze before the snow fell this season. All of the warm air temperatures immediately prior to the snowfall have kept the ground temperatures up, and they are still up with the insulation because of the snow. Even with very cold air temperatures, the snow acts like a blanket for the ground and helps to regulate the ground temperature. In past winters, the ground has had a chance to freeze before the snow falls and plowing starts, then the grass does not get as tore up. It is quite a bummer about the ground temperatures this season.
Now this is not to worry if your lawn does have snow plow damage. Any damage that is done by our plowing will be repaired. We return in the spring once the snow melts and fix the grass. We reuse what is salvageable, and add new soil and seed if it is not.
